FAQ
Where are you located? Can I walk in and buy a cupcake?
We bake out of a licensed shared commercial kitchen in Metro Detroit, so we do not have a retail storefront for walk-ins! All of our cakes, macarons, and cookies are baked to order. You can place your order right here on our website.
How far in advance do I need to order?
For our signature cakes and treats from the Shop, we require at least 48 hours' notice. For custom tiered cakes, weddings, and large events, we recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks in advance, as our calendar fills up quickly.
Do you deliver, or is it pickup only?
Both! We offer free local pickup in Commerce Twp. If you need delivery, we deliver throughout Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor. Delivery fees are calculated based on mileage from our kitchen. (Tiered wedding cakes must be delivered and set up by us to ensure they arrive flawlessly).
Do you make vegan, gluten-free, or allergy-friendly cakes?
We operate in a shared commercial kitchen that processes dairy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts. While we take immense care with sanitation, we cannot guarantee a 100% allergy-free environment. Note: Our French macarons are naturally made with almond flour (gluten-free), but cross-contamination is possible.
Can you copy a cake design I found on Pinterest?
We love seeing your inspiration photos! However, as a boutique bakery, we do not copy other artists' work exactly. We will use your photos as inspiration to design a cake that perfectly fits your vibe, but with the signature Daria Bakehouse aesthetic.
Do you do wholesale for coffee shops or cafes?
Yes! Our stable ganache macarons and NYC stuffed cookies are perfect for display cases. If you are a local business owner in Metro Detroit, please email us at hello@dariabakehouse.com for our wholesale deck and pricing.
How should I store and serve my custom cake?
Our cakes are made with real butter and premium ingredients, which means temperature matters!
Storage: Keep your cake in the refrigerator until the day of your event.
Serving: This is the most important step! Pull your cake out of the fridge 2 to 3 hours before serving. The cake and buttercream must come to room temperature to be soft, silky, and flavorful. (Never leave a cake in direct sunlight or a hot car).
How do I store my macarons, and how long do they last?
Macarons are best kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to a month.
Serving: Let them sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before eating for the perfect chewy texture.
How do I get that "gooey center" for my NYC Stuffed Cookies?
Our cookies are incredible at room temperature, but if you want that ultimate, fresh-from-the-oven gooey center (especially for the Nutella or Caramel!), pop them in the microwave for 8-10 seconds before eating.
